HomeMy WebLinkAboutCouncil Minutes - 2001-05-14 SSPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES MAY 14, 2001CITY OF KITCHENER A special meeting of City Council was held at 11:30 a.m. this date and Chaired by Mayor C. Zehr with all members present except Councillors C. Weylie and J. Smola. Notice of this special meeting had been previously given to all members of Council by the City Clerk pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code. Council was in receipt this date of correspondence from L. Gordon, Manager of Purchasing, dated May 14, 2001, recommending the awarding of a tender for road reconstruction. Moved by Councillor J. Ziegler Seconded by Councillor G. Lorentz “That Tender T01-057, Road Reconstruction - Church Street, St. George Street and Eby Bre-Ex Limited, London, Ontario Street, be awarded to at their corrected tender price of $1,858,193.51, including G.S.T.” Carried. Council was in receipt of correspondence from L. Gordon, Manager of Purchasing, dated May 9, 2001, recommending the waiving of the tender requirement and authorizing purchase of water heater/ air handler units from a single source manufacturer. Moved by Councillor G. Lorentz Seconded by Councillor M. Galloway “That Council waive the requirement for public tendering and authorize the purchase of fifty- State Industries, nine (59) State/Apollo water heater/air handler combination units from Ashland City, Tennessee at a cost of $49,667.94, plus G.S.T.” Carried. Council was advised of additional items for consideration in-camera this date involving a personal matter and a matter subject to solicitor-client privilege. Moved by Councillor B. Vrbanovic Seconded by Councillor J. Ziegler "That an in-camera meeting of City Council be held at approximately 12:30 p.m. this date to consider three personal matters, a personal/labour relations matter, a land acquisition matter, a litigation/solicitor-client privilege matter and six matters subject to solicitor-client privilege.” Carried. G. Sosnoski advised that the Part Lot Control By-law relative to Activa Holdings Inc. which Council was advised of earlier is not available for consideration at this time. Moved by Councillor B. Vrbanovic Seconded by Councillor J. Ziegler “That leave be given the Mover and Seconder to introduce a by-law to confirm all actions and proceedings of the Council and that the same be taken as read a first, second and third times, be finally passed and numbered 2001-94 by the Clerk.” Carried.
