APPROVAL OF MINUTES AND REVIEW OF AGENDA A motion was made by Isabel, seconded by Ron, to accept the minutes of the August meeting as well as the September agenda. All were in favour; carried. 2. DELEGATION 2.1 Christiane Sadeler, Interim Director Community Programs and Services Christiane attended to provide an update to ACAC on KOR. · The KOR Board of Directors met on August 31 and decided to cease operations. Exhibits will be returned to the artists ASAP. No formal discussions have taken place yet about next steps. The City owns the building and is one of many funders. KOR's closing is a loss to the community and it is hoped that the spirit and concept will be revisited in the context of the community and CulturePlan II. The impact on people is the current priority. · Peter asked if restructuring is possible. Christiane indicated that could be a discussion to have with the Board to review its status and possibility. KOR and the City will continue to discuss operational issues. · Members expressed concern regarding what will happen to the equipment on-site. Annalee suggested that the City look into trying to keep assets in the community. · Martin noted the value and history of KOR and suggests that regardless of outcome, there could be a discussion and possible sub-committee of the arts community to facilitate this process. KOR is a cultural facility whose mandate reflects some of the values in the CulturePlan II. · ACAC is dedicated to linking to KOR. CPII feedback did identify needs in the community and shortages and this may be symptomatic. · Members noted that the community does not need to think of this as a failure - it may be that the project resources have run their course. · Chris will ask if KOR needs any Communications assistance from the City. Christiane is in touch with the Co-Chair at KOR. · KOR can be asked what they need and we can see what we can do. ACAC is volunteering to be a link. A motion was made by Ron, seconded by Denis, that ACAC offer assistance as a community resource-at-Iarge and form a sub-committee to determine how KOR could be assisted by ACAC, to work in liaison with Christiane. All were in favour; carried. Ron, Martin volunteered on the sub-committee and Jennifer Breithaupt is nominated to participate. We will see if they update. Christiane is taking the updated to KOR that she has presented to ACAC. \September 200S - ACAC Minutes 1 ARTS AND CULTURE ADVISORY COMMITTEE Tuesday September 13, 2005 - 4:00 p.m. 3.
