HomeMy WebLinkAboutCouncil - 2006-01-23 SSPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES JANUARY 23, 2006 CITY OF KITCHENER A special meeting of City Council was held at 3:43 p.m. this date, Chaired by Mayor C. Zehr and with all members present except Councillors B. Vrbanovic and J. Gazzola Notice of this special meeting had been previously given to all members of Council by the City Clerk pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code. Moved by Councillor C. Weylie Seconded by Councillor M. Galloway "That staff Recommendation 12 (Role of Upper-Tier /Lower-Tier Municipalities) contained in Development & Technical Services Department report DTS-06-012 (City of Kitchener Final Response to Places to Grow, the proposed Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe), be revised to read as follows: 'The City of Kitchener strongly emphasizes the importance of local municipalities in having a key role in matters of land use planning; and further, In light of the role of upper and single tier municipalities, as proposed in the proposed Places to Grow plan, the phrase "in consultation with upper- and single-tier municipalities" be replaced with "in collaboration with upper-, single- and lower-tier municipalities", where appropriate.' ;and further, That report DTS-06-012, as amended, be endorsed by Kitchener Council and submitted to the Ministry of Public Infrastructure Renewal as the City of Kitchener's formal response to Places to Grow, the proposed Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe." Carried. Moved by Councillor J. Smola Seconded by Councillor M. Galloway "That an in-camera meeting of City Council be held immediately following this special meeting to consider a labour relations matter and a matter subject to solicitor-client privilege." Carried. Moved by Councillor G. Lorentz Seconded by Councillor C. Weylie "That leave be given the Mover and Seconder to introduce a by-law to confirm all actions and proceedings of the Council and that the same be taken as read a first, second and third times, be finally passed and numbered 2006-17 by the Clerk." Carried. On motion, the meeting adjourned at 3:44 p.m. MAYOR CLERK
