HomeMy WebLinkAboutDowntown Advisory - 2006-01-12DOWNTOWN ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES January 12, 2006 City of Kitchener The Kitchener Downtown Advisory Committee met this date, commencing at 4:00 p.m., Chaired by Doug Hoch with the following members present: Markus Stranz, Michelle Morissetti, Jamie Hill, Dennis Pellerin, Tony DiBattista, Glen Woolner, Marty Scheriter, John Smola, Christina Weylie City staff present include: Silvia Wright, Tracey DeVille, Brian Page 1. Business Arising 1.1 Proiectin_g Sign Illumination Doug Hoch introduced Mr. Brian Page, Supervisor of Site Plan Development. Mr. Page provided the Committee with an overview of the current sign by-law and the proposed changes. Discussion took place regarding the variety of benefits to changes and the possibility of newer signs in the downtown, due to reduced costs for the newer signs. Concerns were raised regarding the internal illumination of the signs and possible distraction to drivers. The Committee agreed that further consideration was required and advised of their interest to submit a report with a recommendation to support the changes to the by-law. Mr. Page requested that the Committee return any comments as soon as possible for consideration. 2. Approval of Minutes On motion by, Glen Woolner It was resolved: "That the minutes of December 9, 2005 be approved" 3. Bus Trip -Downtown Lighting in Guelph The Committee was reminded of the bus trip to view the lighting solutions in downtown Guelph, which was ready to depart.
