1. Review of Presentation
• Michael reviewed most current presentation
• Several suggestions we brought forth for the presentation, the group discussed and
decided on a few wording changes, as well as shuffling of a few slides.
• Absent information will be gathered, and inserted into the document prior to presenting to
Council.
2. Identity
• Shelley discussed the Identity Statement with the committee.
• She began by explaining the process in which staff came up with the Identity Statement
and the value to using this rather then a tag line for the city.
• She also pointed out how similar it is to the Vision Statement put forth by Compass
Kitchener in 2000.
• Further dialogue took place regarding the use of an Identity Statement vs. a tag line.
• Decision was made to move Compass Kitchener's 2000 Vision & 2006 Identity Statements
slide to the beginning of the presentation to show we achieved the vision.
• Further discussion took place regarding a tag line, and as a result, we have:
Kitchener, The City of Balance: Small town feel. Big city amenities.
3. Booklet/Pamphlet
• Michael passed out the information that Communications gathered to include in the
booklet/pamphlet that will be made available to the public.
• Suggestion was put forth to create a Newsletter or Bulletin to inform people - a sort of
progress report to be release several times, with updates on Who Are You Kitchener? and
Compass Kitchener's current standing. Suggestions were made to have several variously
focused editions eg. Youth, New Canadians etc.
4. Presentation
• Don will be presenting to Council
• Presentation will be approximately 15 minutes long (10 mins. for presentation, 5 mins. for
questions)
