HomeMy WebLinkAboutCompass Kitchener - 2006-06-07COMPASS KITCHENER COMMITTEE MINUTES June 7, 2006 CITY OF KITCHENER The Compass Kitchener Committee met on this date, commencing at 4:00 p.m. Present: Don Bourgeois, Trudy Beauline, Glen Woolner, Tamara McBride Staff: Michael May, Shelley Adams, Claudia Cuellar, Jenn Walter Regrets: Douglas Parker, Paul Royston, Philip Awere-Gambrah, John Hall, Pat Doherty, Chair Don Bourgeois welcomed all members, and thanked everyone for attending. 1. Review of Presentation • Michael reviewed most current presentation • Several suggestions we brought forth for the presentation, the group discussed and decided on a few wording changes, as well as shuffling of a few slides. • Absent information will be gathered, and inserted into the document prior to presenting to Council. 2. Identity • Shelley discussed the Identity Statement with the committee. • She began by explaining the process in which staff came up with the Identity Statement and the value to using this rather then a tag line for the city. • She also pointed out how similar it is to the Vision Statement put forth by Compass Kitchener in 2000. • Further dialogue took place regarding the use of an Identity Statement vs. a tag line. • Decision was made to move Compass Kitchener's 2000 Vision & 2006 Identity Statements slide to the beginning of the presentation to show we achieved the vision. • Further discussion took place regarding a tag line, and as a result, we have: Kitchener, The City of Balance: Small town feel. Big city amenities. 3. Booklet/Pamphlet • Michael passed out the information that Communications gathered to include in the booklet/pamphlet that will be made available to the public. • Suggestion was put forth to create a Newsletter or Bulletin to inform people - a sort of progress report to be release several times, with updates on Who Are You Kitchener? and Compass Kitchener's current standing. Suggestions were made to have several variously focused editions eg. Youth, New Canadians etc. 4.
