1. Presentation to Council
• June 19, 2006 Who Are You Kitchener? according to Compass Kitcheners mandate will be
presented to Council.
• Michael May went through the presentation with the committee for us to discuss
• The quality of ranking is based on familiarity; we may want to consider marking ones with
less then 10% familiarity.
• Suggestion was made that we also indicate in the presentation many people want to be
engaged.
2. Identity
• Many different ideas were discussed surrounding our identity.
^ our Coat of Arms could be used -translated -Though Industry Prosperity
^ Identity needs to be an aspirational statement
^ Pass identities: Busy Berlin, KKK -Kitchener, Clean as a Kitchen. Do we modernize
an old identity or create new?
^ Industrial could be focused on, and act as more of a transitional term as this is how
we have moved forward
^ Words such as: motivate, genious, potential, reach-out, technology could be used.
• When considering our identity, we want people around the world to consider us with this
statement, we need to find something that shows our strengths, draws people to us and
sells us at the same time.
• Statement has to be an Active one that the community buys into.
