HomeMy WebLinkAboutCompass Kitchener - 2006-10-04COMPASS KITCHENER COMMITTEE MINUTES October 4, 2006 CITY OF KITCHENER The Compass Kitchener Committee met on this date, commencing at 4:00 p.m. Present: Don Bourgeois, Pat Doherty, Glen Woolner, Trudy Beauline Staff: Shelley Adams, Michael May, Tracey DeVille Regrets: Philip Awere-Gambrah, Tamara McBride, Douglas Parker Chair Don Bourgeois welcomed all members, and thanked everyone for attending. 1. Communications Strategy ^ Document is complete and excellent, Michael May complimented the Committee on the work they put in. ^ PowerPoint presentation to be created before October 16t" Council meeting. ^ Media to be presented with an informal briefing before hand - similar to the approach that was taken for the Centre Block Request for Proposal document. ^ 4 page insert to be included in the next issue of Your Kitchener. ^ Presentations to be done to the following groups: ^ Regional Council after the election ^ Both Waterloo and Cambridge council meetings -perhaps in February ^ Prosperity Council ^ KDBA ^ Chamber of Commerce ^ Service Clubs ^ MPP, MP for entire region ^ 51 people who participated in the Who Are You? Kitchener meetings 2. Strategic Plan for Healthy Kitchener ^ Advisory Committees were positive. ^ Draft went to all advisory committees and to staff that were involved -great input! 3. Priorities /Next Steps ^ Committee asked that Don do the presentation, as chair. ^ Use the first meeting in January to orient any new members. ^ 2007 priorities that came from WAYK -Compass Kitchener, structure/resources, community engagement, annual term report process, day to day tools for decision making, diversity. ^ Measurement of the plans progress a priority to be fleshed out with new committee. ^ Michael May & Shelley Adams will do draft presentation and send to the Committee. 4. Recruitment 2007-2010 ^ 2007-2010 application forms were handed out. ^ Discussion on possible new members, Committee was asked to think about anyone they would think would be good. Shelley Adams to look into possible Region representation and speak to Economic Development regarding possible community representative. Meeting adjourned at 5:10 p.m.
