Vrbanovic, Chair and Members of the Finance and Corporate Services Committee Date of Meeting: February 6, 2006 Submitted By: R. Gosse, Director of Legislated Services/Deputy City Clerk Prepared By: Patricia Harris, Manager of Licensing Ward(s) Involved: Date of Report: January 24, 2006 Report No.: CRPS-06-013 Subject: 2006 STREET VENDOR BY-LAW RECOMMENDATION: That a by-law to licence Street Vendors in the City of Kitchener be prepared for Council's consideration on February 13, 2006, based on the proposed by-law dated January 30, 2006 attached to Corporate Services Report CRPS 06-013. BACKGROUND: Street Vendors have been licensed to operate on city property for the past 16 years. The 2005 Street Vendors By-law expired on December 31, 2005. Therefore, a new by-law has been prepared for the 2006 season. REPORT: The recommended changes to the by-law include fee increases for the hot dog vendors and popcorn and confections vendors. These fees were established after an in-depth analysis of the costs. Section 28 has been changed to ensure uniformity with the general provisions of other licensing by-laws by changing the word `shall'to `may'. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: None. COMMUNICATIONS: A Public Notice was placed in The Record on January 27, 2006 advising that this by-law would be considered on February 6, 2006. Last year's licensee's were also advised of this meeting. (MRS) PATRICIA HARRIS MANAGER OF LICENSING
