Riordan, Administrative Assistant Ward(s) Involved: Date of Report: February 1, 2006 Report No.: CPRS 06-015 Subject: Declare Surplus to the City's Needs - Property Ajacent to 110 Barbara Crescent (Part 2, Plan 58R-7149) RECOMMENDATION: That a parcel of land located adjacent to 110 Barbara Crescent described as Part 2, Reference Plan 58R-7149, in the City of Kitchener be declared surplus to the City's needs; and, That Part 2 on Reference Plan 58R-7149 be conveyed to the property owner of 110 Barbara Crescent for the price of $1,552, plus all incidental costs subject to the execution of an agreement of purchase and sale satisfactory to the City Solicitor; and further, That the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute the necessary documentation to complete the conveyance. BACKGROUND: Attached hereto is a site plan outlining the property that is currently being leased to owners of 110 Barbara Crescent for parking purposes. The lease agreement has expired; as a result, Property Management Committee suggests that the property be sold to them instead of renewing the lease agreement. REPORT: Staff approached the owner of 110 Barbara Crescent to propose a sale of property in lieu of renewing the lease agreement. The Property Management Committee suggests that the land be sold to them with a condition that the purchaser provides a wooden fence along the property. $5.90 per square foot was determined as fair market value and is satisfactory to the City Solicitor. .../2 February 1, 2006 Page 2 FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The funds received from the sale of the site will be put into the Asset Management Reserve.
