Subject: REQUEST FOR MUNICIPAL SIGNIFICANCE DESIGNATION

RECOMMENDATION:
That Neruda Productions be granted permission to operate a Place of Refreshment at Victoria
Park Pavilion on March 24, 2006 provided the necessary licence is obtained, including Health
and Fire approval; and further,
That since this event is a celebration of our ethnic diversity it be declared an event of "Municipal
Significance" for the purpose of liquor licensing.
BACKGROUND:
A Council resolution is required prior to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission issuing a Liquor
Licence for the event.
REPORT:
Attached is an e-mail from Brian Scott, Events Development for the City on behalf of Neruda
Productions requesting Council to designate a special event known as Cafe Cabaret an event of
"Municipal Significance". The event will take place at Victoria Park Pavilion on March 24, 2006.
This event allows members of our diverse multicultural community to showcase their many
talents.
