Date of Report: March 10, 2006
Report No.: CRPS 06-044
Subject: Declare Land Surplus to the City's Needs and Convey to
Adjacent Property Owner on Gallarno Court
RECOMMENDATION:
That a parcel of land that fronts onto Gallarno Court, described as Block H and I, Plan
1273 be declared surplus to the City's needs and be conveyed to the abutting property
owner immediately behind for a price of $24,875, plus all incidental costs associated
with this transaction; and,
That the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute the necessary documentation to
complete this conveyance.
BACKGROUND:
We approached the neighboring property owner to see if there was an interest in them
purchasing City land or otherwise selling their property to create one developable lot
fronting Gallarno Court. The neighboring property owner expressed interest in
purchasing the City land shown on the attached map.
REPORT:
In an effort to divest the City of surplus lands that can be developed, city staff have
proposed to sell this property on Gallarno Court. An appraisal was obtained from City
Management & Appraisals, indicating a fair market value of $24,875. Property
Management Committee recommends that the land be a direct sale to the adjacent
property owner at fair market value, plus incidental costs.
