Gosse, Director of Legislated Services/City Clerk Prepared By: Patricia Harris, Manager of Licensing Ward(s) Involved: 6 Date of Report: April 13, 2006 Report No.: CRPS-06-064 Subject: TRI-PRIDE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION -REQUEST TO SELL REFERSHMENTS AND OPERATE A BEER TENT ON VICTORIA PARK ISLAND-JUNE 4, 2006 RECOMMENDATION: That the request of the Tri-Pride Community Association to locate a beer tent in Victoria Park for the Tri-Pride Celebration on June 4, 2006 be approved; and, That the Tri-Pride Community Association be permitted to invite a maximum of 40 food and merchandise vendors to sell in Victoria Park during the Tri-Pride Day Celebration on June 4, 2006, provided the necessary licence is obtained; and That the Tri-Pride Community Association be granted an exemption from Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code in conjunction with an event at Victoria Park on June 4, 2006; and That the Tri-Pride Community Association comply with Chapter 502 (Adult Entertainment Parlours); and further; That since this event is a celebration of community harmony and diversity, it be designated as an event of `municipal significance' for the purpose of applying for a liquor licence. BACKGROUND: Council policy requires Council's approval prior to a licence being issued to allow sales to take place on City property. Also, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario requires a Council Resolution designating an event of municipal significance prior to a liquor licence being issued for this event. REPORT: Attached is a letter from Dave Bell, Co-Chair Tri-Pride Community Association, requesting Council's permission for various activities connected with the 10th annual gay and lesbian pride celebrations. The festival is taking place on Victoria Park Island on June 4, 2006. A similar request was approved last year. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: None. (MRS) PATRICIA HARRIS MANAGER OF LICENSING
