Subject: REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO SELL REFRESHMENTS
IN VICTORIA PARK -MAY 28, 2006 -WORLD
PARTNERSHIP WALK
RECOMMENDATION:
That the request of the World Partnership to Walk to sell refreshments in Victoria Park on May
28, 2006 be approved, provided the necessary licence is obtained, including Health and Fire
approvals; and
That the world Partnership Walk be granted an exemption from Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City
of Kitchener Municipal Code in conjunction with an event in Victoria Park on May 28, 2006 from
11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
BACKGROUND:
Council policy requires Council approval prior to a licence being issued to allow sales of
refreshments to take place on City property.
REPORT:
Attached is a letter from Aleem Ramji, Convenor of the World Partnership Walk 2006,
requesting permission to sell refreshments during the walk. The proceeds from the sale of
refreshments will be used to offset the expenses related to the walk. They are also requesting
an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code from 11:00 a.m. to
3:00 p.m. on May 28, 2006.
This will be the 22nd Anniversary of the walk and the money raised through the walk will be used
to support projects aimed at self-sustainability in Asia and Africa.
Similar requests have been approved the past several years.
