Subject: APPEAL -HOT DOG CART LOCATION - 351 MARGARET
AVENUE
RECOMMENDATION:
The Committee's direction is requested.
BACKGROUND:
Chapter 586 (Refreshment Vehicles) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code requires a 200-
metre distance separation between a Refreshment Vehicle and a Place of Refreshment and a
400 metre distance separation between two Refreshment Vehicles. This requirement is for both
new and renewal applications.
REPORT:
Attached is a letter from Mr. Steve Spaetzel requesting an appeal of the Manager of Licensing's
decision not to issue a licence for the operation of a hot dog cart at 351 Margaret Avenue. He
has received permission from the operator of the business located at this address to be located
outside of this establishment.
There is currently one Place of Refreshment and one Refreshment Vehicle within the distance
separations. They have been notified of this request.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
None
