Subject: APPEAL -HOT DOG CART LOCATION - 47 BLEAMS
ROAD
RECOMMENDATION:
The Committee's direction is requested.
BACKGROUND:
Chapter 586 (Refreshment Vehicles) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code requires a 200
metre distance separation between a Refreshment Vehicle and a Place of Refreshment and a
400 metre distance separation between two Refreshment Vehicles. This requirements is for
both new and renewal applications.
REPORT:
Attached is a letter from Margaret Furey requesting an appeal of the Manager of Licensing's
decision not to issue a licence for the operation of a hot dog cart at 47 Bleams Road. She has
received permission from the owner of the property provided that the traffic generated by the
operation of the hot dog cart does not cause any damage to the landscaping at the building.
There is currently one Refreshment Vehicle within the distance separation. They have been
notified of this request and have indicated that they object to the request by Mrs. Furey.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
None

The owner of the Refreshment Vehicle that is within the distance separation has been notified of
this request.
