RECOMMENDATION:
Applications for Cancellation, Refund, Reduction or Levy of Taxes
December 12th Hearing
BACKGROUND:
It is recommended that, pursuant to Section #357 of The Municipal Act,
S.O. 2001, applications to City Council for Cancellation, Reduction,
refund or levy of taxes, Council approve the fifty six applications,
totalling $207,050.22, in the report attached to FIN-05-046.
Fifty six applications for adjustment of taxes under Section #357 of The Municipal Act, S.O. 2001
were processed, resulting in a net reduction of taxes in the amount of $207,050.22. The required
notices to the affected parties were sent out in accordance with the relevant legislation.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The total amount of $207,050.22 tax reductions are shared with the Regional Municipality of
Waterloo and the School Boards. The net effect to the City of Kitchener amounts to
approximately $47,600 to be reduced.
