AFFILIATION AND INSURANCE OF KITCHENER SOCCER
CLUB
RECOMMENDATION:
That Council approves the Kitchener Soccer Club as an affiliated minor sport group with
the City of Kitchener per the City's Minor Sport Affiliation policy; and further,
That Council approves the addition of the Kitchener Soccer Club as an insured group in
the City of Kitchener's Minor Sports third party liability insurance program.
BACKGROUND:
Based on the Kitchener Soccer transition report CSD-06-044 of March 27th, Council approved
the transfer of responsibility of the soccer program to the Kitchener Soccer Club. Since then,
the Soccer Club executive has fulfilled the affiliation requirements within their organization and
is requesting full affiliation privileges and City of Kitchener Minor Sport's third party liability
insurance coverage.
REPORT:
The Kitchener Soccer Club is currently an incorporated not-for-profit volunteer organization that
provides programmes for youth in Kitchener and surrounding areas.
Currently in 2006, there are 3500 participants under age 18 years registered with the Club. The
Club operates indoor and outdoor soccer programs for house league and competitive levels.
Current registrations and financial statements show the Club to be financially stable and
sustainable. The Club meets the requirements of the Minor Sport Affiliation Policy.
