APPEAL - HOT DOG CART LOCATION - 1400 OTTAWA
STREET SOUTH
RECOMMENDATION:
The Committee's direction is requested
BACKGROUND:
By-law 2004-258 requires a 200-metre distance separation between a Refreshment Vehicle and
a Place of Refreshment and a 400-metre distance separation between two Refreshment
Vehicles. This requirement is for both new and renewal applications.
On December 15, 2003, Council granted an exemption to Chapter 586 of the Municipal Code to
allow a hot dog cart to locate at 1400 Ottawa Street South for the years 2003 and 2004.
REPORT:
Attached is a letter from A. J. Hepburn requesting an appeal of the Manager of Licensing's
decision not to issue a licence for the operation of a Hot Dog Cart at the above address. He has
received permission of the owner of the Canadian Tire Store to locate outside of their store.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
There are currently five Places of Refreshment within the distance separation. All have been
notified of this request.

The businesses within the distance separation have been notified of this request.
