GOEREE'S DECEMBER 6,2004 SUBMISSION TO FINANCE & CORPORATE SERVICES COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: For information. BACKGROUND: At the December 6, 2004 Finance and Corporate Services Committee (FCSC) meeting Dr. G. Goeree submitted comments to the Committee regarding proposed changes to Chapter 530 (Dogs) of the City's Municipal Code. The Committee directed the Ad Hoc Dog By-law Review Committee to consider Dr. Goeree's submission. REPORT: On February 11, 2005 the Ad Hoc Dog By-law Review Committee met to consider Dr. Goeree's submission. The Ad Hoc Committee found merit in some suggestions made by Dr. Goeree; however, resolved that his concerns would be best considered after Bill 132 (Dog Breed Ban Legislation) has received final reading by the Ontario Legislature. The current Ad Hoc Committee's mandate precludes it from reviewing the sections of Chapter 530 (Dogs), which deals with Pit Bulls. Accordingly, appointment of a new Ad Hoc Committee or a modification of the existing Committee's mandate will be required to review the changes proposed by the Province. /2...
