ADJOURNMENT OF LICENSING HEARING - T. C.
WELLNESS CENTRE
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Hearing scheduled to be held on March 2, 2005 with respect to Business Licence No.
20 04 000529 00 L6, issued to T. C. Wellness Centre, be adjourned until such time that the
owner of the business makes application for a business licence.
BACKGROUND:
On a recommendation from staff (December 13, 2004), Council authorised that a hearing be
held with respect to the Business Licence issued to T. C. Wellness Centre. The Alternative
Massage Centre licence was issued in 2004 and information from the Police Services led staff
to believe that the business was not operating in compliance with the City's Municipal Code.
The hearing was to deal with the 2004 licence with an impact on the 2005 licence, if one was
applied for.
REPORT:
In January 2005, staff learned that the T. C. Wellness Centre was closed for business. Legal
staff met with the owner of the Centre to explain the situation regarding the scheduled licensing
hearing. Staff and the owner came to an agreement whereby the hearing would be adjourned
and reconvened if the owner was to make application in the future for another business licence.
The hearing tribunal was surveyed via email and the three members concurred with the
recommendation to adjourn the hearing.
