REQUEST FOR COMMUNITY FESTIVAL DESIGNATION-
CANADIAN LAWN BOWLS CHAMPIONSHIP - AUGUST 14-
20, 2005
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City of Kitchener has no objection to a liquor licence being issued to the Heritage Lawn
Bowling Club for the Canadian Lawn Bowls Championships to be held August 14 to August 20,
2005 at 600 Heritage Drive, Kitchener; and further,
That the event be declared a "Community Festival" for the purpose of applying for a liquor
licence. This event is a lawn bowling tournament that will bring over 150 bowlers from across
Canada to compete for the Canadian Championship.
BACKGROUND:
A Council resolution is required prior to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission issuing a Liquor
Licence for the event.
REPORT:
Attached is a letter from Jean Brighton, President, Heritage Lawn Bowling Club requesting
Council to designate this event as a Community Festival. This is the first time that this event
has been held in Kitchener and will bring 150 lawn bowlers from across Canada to the City to
compete.
