HomeMy WebLinkAboutCRPS-05-075 - Noise Exemption - World Partnership Walk ~ Report To: Date of Meeting: Submitted By: Prepared By: Ward(s) Involved: Date of Report: Report No.: Subject: Finance and Corporate Services Committee May 2, 2005 Gary Sosnoski, General Manager of Corporate Services and City Clerk Shayne Turner, Director of By-law Enforcement West - Victoria Park April 27, 2005 CRPS-05-075 EXEMPTION TO CHAPTER 450 (NOISE) - WORLD PARTNERSHIP WALK RECOMMENDATION: That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be granted to the Aga Khan Foundation of Canada on Sunday May 29, 2005, between the hours of 11 A.M. and 3 P.M. to participate in the 2005 World Partnership Walk at the Victoria Park Gazebo. BACKGROUND: The Aga Khan Foundation of Canada will be participating in the annual 2005 World Partnership Walk on Sunday May 29, 2005, and will be utilizing the Victoria Park Gazebo. As part of their event, there will be music and speeches at the Gazebo. As such, they are requesting an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise). A copy of their exemption request is attached. REPORT: This event has been held in Victoria Park for several years and the organization has received previous noise exemptions. The By-law Enforcement Division is not aware of any recent complaints with regard to the noise. We note that the event takes place during mid-day, as such the impact on the adjacent neighbourhood is thought to be minimal. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: None identified at this time. COMMUNICATIONS: No Corporate Communications required. CONCLUSION: Based on the circumstances surrounding this event, the By-law Enforcement Division does not object to this request for an exemption.
