CRPS-05-100
APPEAL - HOT DOG CART LOCATION -1455
STRASBURG ROAD
BACKGROUND:
RECOMMENDATION:
The Committee's direction is requested.
By-law 2004-258 requires a 200-metre distance separation between a Refreshment Vehicle and
a Place of Refreshment and a 400-metre distance separation between two Refreshment
Vehicles. This requirement is for both new and renewal applications.
REPORT:
Attached is a letter from Les Halat requesting an appeal of the Manager of Licensing's decision
not to issue a licence for the operation of a hot dog cart at the above address. He has received
permission from the owner of 1455 Strasburg Road to be located in the parking lot of their
business.
There is currently one refreshment vehicle within the distance separation. They have been
notified of this request and have responded in writing with their objections. They have indicated
in their letter that there is barely enough business in the industrial park for 1 cart and that most
of their business is done over the lunch hour.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
None.
COMMUNICATIONS:
The owner of the refreshment vehicle that is within the distance separation has been notified of
this request and has responded with their objections in writing.
