HomeMy WebLinkAboutCouncil - 2007-01-29 SSPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES JANUARY 29, 2007 CITY OF KITCHENER A special meeting of City Council was held at 12:36 p.m. this date, Chaired by Mayor C. Zehr with all members present except Councillors J. Gazzola and G. Lorentz. Notice of this special meeting had been previously given to all members of Council by the City Clerk pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code. Moved by Councillor J. Smola Seconded by Councillor B. Vrbanovic "That an in-camera meeting of City Council be held this date to consider a land acquisition / disposition matter, alitigation /potential litigation matter, alitigation /potential litigation matter which is also subject to solicitor-client privilege and a matter subject to solicitor-client privilege." Carried. The meeting then recessed at 12:37 p.m. and re-convened at 7:30 p.m., Chaired by Councillor G. Lorentz and with all members present except Mayor C. Zehr. Council considered a recommendation arising from the Development and Technical Services Committee meeting this date with respect to building permit fees. Moved by Councillor C. Weylie Seconded by Councillor B. Vrbanovic "That a by-law be adopted to amend Chapter 710 (Building Permits and Fees) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code, to give effect to the building permit fees and recommendations contained in the report prepared by BMA Consulting Inc., such that they become effective February 1, 2007." Carried. Council was advised of an urgent matter arising from the Development and Technical Services Committee meeting this date regarding Demolition Control Application DC 06/08/C/CB. Moved by Councillor B. Vrbanovic Seconded by Councillor J. Gazzola "That pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code, the following matter be added to the agenda of this special meeting of Council: • consideration of the recommendation arising from the Development and Technical Services Committee of this date regarding Demolition Control Application DC 06/08/C/CB." Moved by Councillor C. Weylie Seconded by Councillor J. Smola Carried Unanimously. "That Demolition Control Application DC06/08/C/CB, as amended, requesting permission to demolish two former residential buildings municipally addressed as 16-18 College Street and 22 College Street, located at the southwest corner of College Street and Duke Street in Downtown Kitchener, and legally described as Part Lots A, 155 and 156, Plan 374, be aggroved, without conditions." Carried. Council agreed to a request from Ms. D. Gilchrist, Deputy City Clerk, to add one additional by-law for three readings relative to the recommendation of the Development and Technical Services Committee meeting this date regarding building permit fees. Smola "That leave be given the Mover and Seconder to introduce the following by-laws for three readings and that the same be taken as read a first, second and third times, be finally passed and numbered serially by the Clerk. (a) Being a by-law to amend Chapter 710 of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code with respect to Building Permits and Fees. (b) To confirm all actions and proceedings of the Council.
