RECOMMENDA TION
That tender T07-012, Six Wheel Street Sweeper, be awarded to Joe Johnson Equipment Inc.,
Barrie, Ontario, complete to specification CKF-72-2006, at their tendered price of $232,846.14,
including G.S.T. & P.S.T.
BACKGROUND
This street sweeper is being purchased to replace the street sweeper that had been burned in the
fire at the Bramm Street Garage. This street sweeper was approved for replacement in 2007 at a
budget estimate of $240,000.
REPORT
Tenders were requested from two (2) potential bidders, advertised publicly in The Record, on the
City of Kitchener website and the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering Information
System. By the closing date of Thursday January 25th, 2007, two (2) tenders had been received.
The low bid submitted by Champion Road Machinery Sales, Brampton, did not meet the
specification in the following areas: no battery for the rear engine, the alternator is only 65 amp
not 105 and the conveyor is not a repairable belt.
