Subject: COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS TO COMMITTEES
RECOMMENDATION:
That Councillor K. Galloway be appointed to the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee for the
period December 4, 2006 -November 30, 2008; and,
That Councillor J. Gazzola be appointed to Heritage Kitchener for the period December 4, 2006
- November 30, 2008; and further,
That Councillors B. Vrbanovic and K. Galloway be appointed to the Kitchener Public Library
Board for the period December 4, 2006 -November 30, 2010.
BACKGROUND:
On December 4, 2006, Council made its appointments to various committees and boards with
the exception of the Arts & Culture Advisory Committee, Heritage Kitchener and the Kitchener
Public Library Board. Although at the Striking Committee meeting of December 4t" Councillors K
Galloway, J. Gazzola and B. Vrbanovic and K. Galloway were appointed to the Arts & Culture
Advisory Committee, Heritage Kitchener and the Kitchener Public Library Board respectively,
Council never ratified their appointments.
REPORT:
At the Striking Committee meeting of December 4, 2006, the Committee did put forward the
appointments of Councillors Galloway, Gazzola and Vrbanovic to the committees and board as
outlined above. The Committee however, did not make any other appointments to those
committees and board. On January 15, 2007 the final appointments to the committees and
board in question were made yet, the Council appointees were not ratified by Council.
It is clear that the intent was for those Councillors to be appointed to the committees and board
and only due to an oversight were they not formally appointed. Adopting the recommendation
contained in this report will rectify the situation.
