RECOMMENDATION -KING STREET IMPROVEMENT
PRIORITY
RECOMMENDATION:
"That the City of Kitchener prioritize King Street improvements in accordance with the proposed
streetscape master plan, specifically that the improvement to lighting, sidewalks & plantings for
King Street from Frederick Street to Victoria Street be implemented expeditiously in 2008."
BACKGROUND:
The above resolution was put forward by the Downtown Advisory Committee, June 8, 2006.
The intent of the resolution was to support a consultant selection in 2006 for the streetscape
Masterplan. Since the streetscape Masterplan RFP was postponed to December 2006, the
above resolution was delayed until the new 2007 newly-appointed DAC membership could
consider the Masterplan RFP and consultant selection and amend the resolution if necessary.
REPORT:
At its meeting on February 8, 2007, the Downtown Advisory Committee agreed to put forward
the above recommendation in support of the King Street improvements in accordance with the
proposed streetscape master plan.
