HomeMy WebLinkAboutCRPS-07-060 - Exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) - Bike For KidsREPORT Report To: Finance and Corporate Services Committee Date of Meeting: May 7, 2007 Submitted By: Troy Speck, General Manager of Corporate Services Prepared By: Shayne Turner, Director of By-law Enforcement Ward(s~ Involved: Bridgeport-Centre Date of Report: May 1, 2007 Report No.: CRPS-07-060 Subject: EXEMPTION TO CHAPTER 450 (NOISE) -BIKE 4 KIDS RECOMMENDATION: That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise} of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be granted to the Bike 4 Kids Charity Cycling Event on May 12, 2007, between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4 P.M., at Schaeffer Park. BACKGROUND: The Bike 4 Kids 100km Charity Cycling Event is being held on Saturday May 12th. The event will start and finish at Schaeffer Park, 75 Bloomingdale Road. There will be an opening ceremonies starting at 9 A.M. for approximately 30 minutes and a closing ceremonies in the afternoon, after 2 P.M.. Attached is a copy of their exemption request. REPORT: Given the relatively short duration of time involved with respect to the opening and closing ceremonies and the fact that this event is being conducted during the day time hours, staff do not anticipate any concerns with respect to noise. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: None identified at this time. COMMUNICATIONS: No Corporate Communications required. CONCLUSION: Based on the circumstances surrounding this event, the By-law Enforcement Division does not object to this requestfor an exemption. Shayne Turner Director of By-law Enforcement Encl.
