RECOMMENDA TION
That tender T07-007, Road Reconstruction - Strange Street (Cherry Street to CNR Crossing), be
awarded to Terracon Underground Ltd., Brantford, Ontario at their tendered price of
$1,342,141.11, including provisional items and contingency of $162,262.50. and G.S.T., and
further that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute an agreement satisfactory to the
City Solicitor.
BACKGROUND
Engineering Services wishes to proceed with the reconstruction of Strange Street (Cherry Street
to CNR Crossing), which involves the replacement of all underground services and surface
works including road, curb & gutter and sidewalk. The infrastructure has reached the end of its'
useful life and is in need of replacement. The project also includes a new storm outlet for Cherry
Park. This is the second phase of construction and will be completed in October 2007.
REPORT
Tenders were advertised publicly in The Record, The Daily Commercial News, on the City of
Kitchener website and on the Internet through the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering
Information System. Thirteen (13) potential bidders picked up tender documents, and by the
closing date of Thursday April 26th, 2007, six (6) tenders had been received.
