BACKGROUND In keeping with standard terms for the Co-Operative Purchasing Group of Waterloo Region (CPGWR), the Region of Waterloo sent out a Proposal with the understanding that other members of the CPGWR who did not participate in the original proposal would have the option to participate in the contract at the expiry of their current agreements. The City of Kitchener contract for cleaning chemicals expired May 5th, 2007. Piggybacking onto the Region of Waterloo contract means: o that the City of Kitchener would be a participating member agency on the Region of Waterloo's contract, reducing administrative costs and duplication of efforts o that the City of Kitchener is implementing an environmentally responsible program along with the Region of Waterloo o that all City of Kitchener cleaning chemicals purchased, whenever possible, would meet or exceed acceptable third party certification through Environment Canada's ECOLABELLING Program; as environmental preferred cleaning products. The City of Kitchener's estimated total dollar usage over a one-year period represents $72,022.71, including taxes, of this contract. A savings of approximately $12,943.67 will be realized due to the dollar volume purchased through the Region of Waterloo contract. REPORT The following user departments concur with the above recommendation: o L. Stecho, Supervisor of Purchasing o E. Dent, Supervisor Facilities Management o G. Egerdeen, Supervisor Facilities Management o G. Collins, Supervisor of Community Arenas FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS Funding will be provided from various City indices. Larry Gordon Director of Purchasing
