DELEGATION N/A 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES AND REVIEW OF AGENDA A motion was made by Jennifer, seconded by Lawrence, to approve the minutes of the October meeting. All were in favour; carried. 3. BUSINESS ARISING 3.1 Tax Credit for Physical Activity - Peter · Peter and Martin met and drafted a recommendation regarding the Child Fitness Tax Credit (see Item 3.1 of the October ACAC minutes). Peter distributed a draft document: "A Tax Credit for Children's Engagement with the Arts" and asked members to come to the December meeting prepared to discuss. 3.2 Creative Hub Development Workshop - Peter · Peter attended Artscape's Creative Hub Development Workshop on October 20 (see 4.2 from the October minutes). Downtown Kitchener, as it currently exists, was rated between 2-3 out of 5. 3.3 School of Pharmacy Public Art - Peter · Re Item 5.1 from the October minutes: Peter did not send a letter as noted in the Action. In speaking with Ryan Mounsey, Senior Planner with the City of Kitchener, Peter was advised that an arrangement has been made with the School of Pharmacy to have a substantial amount of artwork in the new building. 3.4 A&C Supervisor Posting - Cheryl This new position has been posted and advertised Canada-wide with a November 15 deadline for applications. The position is the first step towards building a larger Arts and Culture section. All postings are handled through Human Resources. The following recommendation was made by the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee: "A motion was made by Jennifer Breithaupt, seconded by Lawrence McNaught, that an Arts and Culture Advisory Committee member participate in the interview process for the Arts and Culture supervisor position as an observer. All were in favour; carried." Peter will contact Ann Pappert to discuss. 4. NEW BUSINESS 4.1 Appointments To ACAC · Cheryl noted that six applications have been received for the 2007 ACAC by the Clerk's Department. The applications will be reviewed and approved by Council. · ACAC's Terms of Reference will be reviewed by the new committee in December or January. \November 2006 - ACAC Minutes Arts and Culture Advisory Committee Tuesday November 14, 2006 - 4:00 p.m. ACTION: Cheryl will talk with the Clerk's Department regarding allowing ACAC members' request to review the applications received with the intent to provide input. 4.2 Acknowledgement of Retiring ACAC Members - Cheryl Cheryl extended gratitude to members who will not be returning to ACAC. Their time, energy, commitment and expertise has been very much appreciated. 5. REPORTS 5.1 Public Art Working Group - Sheila There is no report as PAWG didn't meet last month, however, Sheila noted that the 2007 Artist- in-Residence will be chosen in late November, as well as a new Chair for PAWG. Eight applications were received for the 2007 AIR program. 5.2 DAC Report No report. 5.3 CDC Report - Ron · The City of Waterloo is busy planning for the sesquicentennial in 2007. 5.4 CPlllmplementation Team - Martin · The team meets next on November 17. 5.5 Staff Report - Cheryl · The Kitchener application for Cultural Capitals of Canada has been submitted. 6.0 ADJOURNMENT/NEXT MEETING Ron made a motion to adjourn the November ACAC meeting, seconded by Sheila. All were in favour; carried. The next meeting will be held on December 12 in the Schmalz Room at Kitchener City Hall starting at 4:00 p.m. \November 2006 - ACAC Minutes
