Subject: EXEMPTION TO CHAPTER 450 (NOISE) -SHAWN
COOPER, REGISTRY THEATRE AND VICTORIA PARK
PAVILION
RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise} of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be granted to
Shawn Cooper for album release events to be held between the hours of 7:00 PM and 10:15
PM, for the following dates and locations:
September 14, 2007 -Registry Theatre
October 5, 2007 -Registry Theatre
October 19, 2007 -Victoria Park Pavilion
December 7, 2007 -Registry Theatre
BACKGROUND:
Mr. Shawn Cooper of Flamesburn.com is planning to host album release parties for local bands
at the Registry Theatre and in the Victoria Park Pavilion on the 4 dates as indicated in the above
recommendation, between the hours of 7:00 PM and 10:15 PM. Attached is a copy of his
request.
REPORT:
The event organizer, Mr. Cooper, advises that all music for the event will be played inside the
buildings. In addition, the event is non-licensed with no alcohol being served.
Several similar events have been held earlier this year by the same organizer and the By-law
Enforcement Division is not aware of any concerns raised with regard to noise impacting the
adjacent neighbourhood area.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
None identified at this time.
COMMUNICATIONS:
No Corporate Communications required.
CONCLUSION:
Based on the circumstances surrounding these events, the By-law Enforcement Division does
not object to this request for an exemption.
