Proulx, Director of Facilities Management August 22, 2007 CRPS 07-115 Subject: FOUNDATION REPAIRS AT VICTORIA PARK PAVILION RECOMMENDATION: That $80,000 betaken from Capital contingency to fund foundation repairs at Victoria Park Pavilion. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: N/A BACKGROUND: N/A REPORT: The Pavilion is a 1 story structure with a full basement. The basement was subdivided into offices and later occupied. On the lower level the offices sustained major water damage after severe rain falls. Following the most recent event in the fall of 2006 the occupants were relocated to other buildings. In order to properly address the problem we need to excavate around the perimeter and place a water resistant membrane against the foundation and to install an effective weeper system. Specifications were prepared and the work was tendered. The low bid was in the amount of $75,000 (excluding GST}. The current balance in the Capital contingency is $291,160. We propose $80,000 for this work allowing some contingency. We always anticipate some surprises when we excavate and these always lead to change orders. Landscape architects and Community Services Department have budgeted for a substantial landscaping program around the Pavilion in 2007 they are presently holding off on making this improvement until the foundation work is completed. Dur expectation that upon completion of this work the Corporation will be able to consider occupancy of the lower level of the Pavilion once again. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: $80,000 betaken from Capital contingency. COMMUNICATIONS: N/A CONCLUSION: N/A L. Proulx, CET CMM III Director of Facilities Management LP/cr
