CRPS-07-117
Subject: APPOINTMENT TOHERITAGE KITCHENER -VACANCIES
RECOMMENDATION:
That and
Heritage Kitchener for a term ending November 30, 2008.
BACKGROUND:
be appointed to
In November 2006, Council made its appointments to various Boards and Committees. Since
that time there have been two vacancies on Heritage Kitchener (HK) and the Committee has
requested that Council appoint replacements.
REPORT:
To fill the vacancies on HK Council has two options: advertise for applicants and make the
appointment from eligible candidates or, consider the candidates who applied to the Committee
in November 2006 but were not appointed. Advertising for the vacancy will incur costs of
approximately $600 and will take another 4 weeks to complete the process. There were fifteen
candidates from the November appointments that were not selected; all have been contacted
and twelve have indicated they wish to be considered for the vacancies. In light of the cost and
the number of interested applicants, it is being recommended that Council consider the twelve
candidates. To that end, the applications have been circulated to Council under separate cover.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Should Council decide to direct staff to advertise for the vacancies, then approximately $600 will
be incurred to place an AD in The Record.
