BACKGROUND: Council approved Report DTS-07-103 on June 25, 2007 which included the Terms of Reference for the Kitchener Growth Management Strategy. The Terms of Reference outline the scope of work, and the role, composition and governance of the Kitchener Growth Management Task Force. It is noted that the Task Force's Community Advisory Group shall include two members who are citizens at large that are appointed by Council. Council is being asked to appoint two members from the applications received. REPORT: In accordance with the Terms of Reference staff invited members of the community to apply for membership on the Task Force. A request for applicants was posted on the City's web site and a notice was advertised in The Record on July 27, 2007. Four applications were received and these have been circulated to Council under separate cover. An overview of the Task Force is attached as Appendix "A". CONCLUSION: Kitchener will be developing a Growth Management Strategy in consultation with a Task Force that will include two members who are citizens at large and that are appointed by Council. The Community Advisory Group (CAG) will be a sounding board and will provide input to staff on community consultations and strategy options. The Technical Working Group (TWG) will assist in developing strategy options and will provide data and/or technical information on projects that need to be considered or aligned. Two CAG members from the public at large shall be appointed by Council.
