RENEWAL OF PARK LICENSE AGREEMENT (PT OF LOTS
35 & 20, GERMAN COMPANY TRACT)
RECOMMENDATION:
That subject to the satisfaction of the City Solicitor, the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to
execute a license Agreement Renewal (5 years) with Ontario Realty Corporation
(formerly Hydro One Networks Inc.) relating to lands in the Victoria Hills community,
more particularly described as Part of lots 35 and 20, German Company Tract, giving the
City a license to use and allow the public to use those lands.
REPORT:
The license area includes the Hydro corridor running from Fischer-Hallman Road to Westmount
Road through Filsinger Park West and contains approximately 5.74 acres (2.3 hectares).
It contains approximately 200 metres of community trail, portions of Filsinger Park West and the
Henry Sturm greenway. License renewal is now on a 5 year basis and we have existing
licenses expiring through to 2023 that will be renewed (license length has varied from 5-20
years in the past).
The City entered into the licenses with Ontario Hydro (Hydro One Networks Inc.) as the need
arose for the extension of the community trail system and open space system. This portion has
been under license since 1983.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The park license is being offered at a yearly rate of $2.00 and the municipality is responsible for
500/0 of the realty taxes (approximately $416 per acre) and maintenance of the corridor.
