PLACES TO PLAY CAMPAIGN
RECOMMENDATION:
That the updated report of the Places to Play Campaign Cabinet as presented and
outlined in Report CSD #07-090, be tabled.
BACKGROUND:
Council directed the sports partners to undertake a $2 million capital campaign to assist in
funding the $19.5 million Hanson Athletic Complex.
The sports partners engaged a community based fundraising team of volunteers and a
fundraising firm - Campaign Coaches to carry out the campaign. The campaign is branded
"Places to Play".
The Places to Play Campaign team received direction from Council to proceed with a donor
recognition program in June 2007 as outlined in Report CSD-07-049. At the same time, Council
asked the campaign team to return in the Fall of 2007 to provide an update on the progress of
the campaign.
REPORT:
Places to Play Campaign Chair Peter Benninger will provide a brief overview of the status of the
campaign. At this point in time, the campaign has achieved its major goals, including achieving
its Phase 1 fundraising target for September 30, 2007.
The Campaign Team will be available for questions regarding the campaign following a formal
presentation at Community Services Committee.
