BACKGROUND: Chapter 586 (Refreshment Vehicles) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code requires a 200 metre distance separation between a Refreshment Vehicle and a Place of Refreshment and a 400 metre distance separation between two Refreshment Vehicles. This requirement is for both new and renewal applications. REPORT: Attached is a letter from Vlasta Kadlec requesting an appeal of the Manager of Licensing's decision not to issue a licence for the operation of a hot dog cart at 41 Ardelt Place. Ms. Kadlec wishes to relocate her hot dog cart from 90 Ardelt Avenue to 41 Ardelt Place. She has received permission from the operator of the business located at this address. Transportation Planning has reviewed the proposal and they have no objections provided that the location could be reviewed if traffic or parking problems were created as a result of the operation of the cart. There are currently two licensed Place of Refreshments within the distance separation. They have been notified of this request.
