CRPS 08-028
DECLARE LAND SURPLUS TO THE CITY'S NEEDS FOR
ROAD WIDENING ALONG OTTAWA STREET SOUTH INTO
MCLENNAN PARK AND CONVEYANCE OF SAID LAND TO
THE REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF WATERLOO
RECOMMENDATION:
That the strip of land running parallel with Ottawa Street South measuring 85.421 metres in
length, more particularly described as Part of Lots 3 and 4, Municipal Compiled Plan 1021 and
Part of Lot 3, Municipal Compiled Plan 1026, being Part 1 on Reference Plan 58R-15990, a
copy of which is attached, be declared surplus to the City's needs; and
That Legal Services be directed to transfer the said lands to the Region of Waterloo to
accommodate the westbound turn lane into McLennan Park that was recently constructed by
the Regional Municipality of Waterloo; and further
That the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute any necessary documentation satisfactory to
the City Solicitor.
BACKGROUND:
The McLennan Park Traffic and Parking Review Report prepared by Paradigm Transportation
Solutions Limited dated February 2007 identified the need for the westbound left turn lane.
In November, 2007 the Regional Municipality of Waterloo constructed the said westbound left
turn lane on Ottawa Street South into McLennan Park.
REPORT:
The City currently owns the land the westbound left turn lane has been constructed upon. The
City's engineering consultant, The Walter Fedy Partnership, coordinated the construction of the
westbound turn lane and requested and arranged for Reference Plan 58R-15990 to be
prepared.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
All costs for this conveyance will be paid by the Regional Municipality of Waterloo.
