The applicant has advised that Junior Achievement also submitted applications to the Cities of
Cambridge and Waterloo for funding assistance for this program. The City of Cambridge
approved an amount of $1 ,000 and a decision from the City of Waterloo is pending.
The City of Kitchener generally provides grants to organizations providing municipal services,
primarily recreational, cultural, environmental and community-related activities. Grants for
educational purposes are generally not considered.
The services provided by Junior Achievement are not a core municipal responsibility and
therefore staff recommend that this request not be approved. Further, general provision grants
are intended for one time funding only. The organization has already received two "one time"
general provision grants for the 2006 and 2007 programs.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
None.

The grant applicant has received a copy of this report.
