REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO SELL REFRESHMENTS

RECOMMENDATION:
That the request of the K-W Humanist Movement to sell refreshments and merchandise in
Victoria Park on June 8, 2008 be approved, provided the necessary licence is obtained,
including Health and Fire approvals; and
That the K-W Humanist Movement be granted an exemption from Chapter 450 (Noise) of the
City of Kitchener Municipal Code in conjunction with an event in Victoria Park on June 8, 2008
from 12 noon until 10:00 p.m.
BACKGROUND:
Council policy requires Council approval prior to a licence being issued to allow sales of
refreshments and merchandise to take place on City property.
REPORT:
Attached is a letter from Roger Albrecht, K-W Humanist Movement requesting permission to sell
refreshments and merchandise during the Non-Violence Festival to be held June 8, 2008 in
Victoria Park. They are also requesting an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of
Kitchener Municipal Code from 12 noon to 10:00 p.m. on June 8, 2008.
