HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIN-08-066 - T08-020 - Madison Ave Road Reconstruction (Courtland Ave to Charles St) Report To: Mayor Carl Zehr & Members of Council Date of Meeting: 2008-06-09 Prepared By: Larry Gordon Date of Report: 2008-06-02 Report No: FIN 08-066 Subject: T08-020 - Madison Avenue Road Reconstruction (Courtland Avenue to Charles Street) RECOMMENDA TION That tender T08-020, Madison Avenue Road Reconstruction (Courtland Avenue to Charles Street), be awarded to 2008422 Ontario Limited o/a Euro-Ex Construction, Woodstock, Ontario at their corrected tendered price of $1,294,715.63, including provisional items and contingencies of $142,225. and G.S.T., and further that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute an agreement satisfactory to the City Solicitor. BACKGROUND The Madison Avenue reconstruction project has been initiated to address the infrastructure issues which currently exist. The infrastructure along Madison Avenue has generally reached the end of its' useful life and requires full replacement. The project includes the reconstruction of all underground services (sanitary sewer, storm sewer and watermain) as well as sanitary and water service connections to the property line. The asphalt roadway will be reconstructed as well as sidewalks and curbs. The project also includes replacement of the pedestrian walkway to Cameron Heights Collegiate Institute and Kaufman Park. Construction is expected to occur from June to October of 2008. REPORT Tenders were advertised publicly in The Record, The Daily Commercial News, on the City of Kitchener website and the Internet through the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering Information System. Eleven (11) potential bidders picked up tender documents, and by the closing date of Thursday May 8th, 2008, six (6) tenders had been received.
