COMMUNITY PLAYGROUND GRANT APPLICATION:
MEADOWLANE PUBLIC SCHOOL
RECOMMENDATION:
That Meadowlane Public School be awarded a one-time community playground grant of
$750 in 2008 toward construction of a junior creative playground facility to be located
within the school campus.
BACKGROUND:
City of Kitchener Council in 1996 established a program whereby school and community groups
may be awarded one-time grants to assist with funding for community playground construction
projects. The program offers a maximum $750 one-time grant award for individual school
playground projects.
Meadowlane Public School has made application to the City of Kitchener Community Services
Department for a one-time grant award of $750 through the Community Playground Grant
Program. The school playground project has the support of the Waterloo Region District School
Board, the school principal and school council.
Meadowlane Public School is engaged in a number of fund raising programs to generate the
funding necessary to construct a playground, which is intended to be enjoyed by both school
students and also by the local community after school hours. Presently there is no playground
on the school campus. The school intends that construction of the new play facility proceeds
this autumn, 2008.
Meadowlane Public School warrants that all aspects of the playground's design, fabrication and
installation will be constructed in accordance with current CSA safety standards.
REPORT:
City of Kitchener staff is satisfied that the current grant application submitted by Meadowlane
Public School meets the conditions and intent as described within the City of Kitchener's
Community Playground Grant Program policy.
