Zehr and Members of Council August 11, 2008 Daniel Daly Daniel Daly n\a July 30, 2008 CAO-08-024 RECOMMENDATION: Memorandum of Settlement for IBEW Local #636 That City Council approve the terms and conditions contained in a Memorandum of Settlement dated July 23, 2008, in connection with the 2008-2011 Collective Agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #636. Further, that the Mayor and Clerk be authorised to execute any documentation arising there from. REPORT: Following seven meetings, the negotiating teams for IBEW Local #636 and the Corporation reached a tentative agreement for a new contract at a Conciliation meeting held on July 23, 2008. IBEW Local #636 ratified the Memorandum of Settlement on Monday July 28,2008. The essential items of change are as follows · Wages: · Three Year Collective Agreement from April 1 ,2008 to March 31,2011 Effective April 1 , 2008 Effective April 1 , 2009 Effective April 1, 2010 3% across the board 3% across the board 3% across the board · Benefit Improvements staged to come in over the three years Vision care from $350 to $375/$400/$425, eligible vision expenses include vision tests, contact lenses and one time laser surgery Long term disability maximum increases from $3600 monthly to $3700 in 2008, $3800 in 2009 and $3900 in 2010 Practitioner services combined to $750 maximum annually, to $1000 maximum annually, $500 maximum per practitioner service Cap dispensing fee prescription drugs from $8 to $9/$10 Orthodontics from $1500 lifetime max at 50\50 co- share to $1750/$2000 lifetime max at 50\50 co-share · Vacation improvement from 6 weeks after 25 years of service to 6 weeks after 24 years of service. There were improvements to shift premium, standby and meal allowances · In addition there are market adjustments to classifications staged to come in to effect during the three year collective agreement. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: All monetary items in this negotiated settlement package have been costed and the total increase is within the guidelines established by Council.
