Subject: Doors Valley Golf Course Expansion- Declare a portion of
Lands Surplus for conveyance of Easements and a Road
Widening
RECOMMENDATION:
"That the lands located south of the Highway 401, in the City of Cambridge, owned by
the City of Kitchener to be developed as part of the Doors Valley Golf Course, more
specifically Part of Lots 9, 10 and 11 of Beasley's Old Survey, in the City of Cambridge
be declared surplus to the City's needs for the purposes of 1) granting a conservation
easement over said lands in favour of the Region of Waterloo; 2} granting a 30 metre
wide easement for a public recreational walking trail over a portion of the said lands in
favour of the City of Cambridge; and 3} the conveyance of a road widening across the
Fountain Street frontage of a portion of the said lands in favour of the Region of
Waterloo."
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

BACKGROUND:
Staff is in the process of satisfying the conditions imposed by the Ontario Municipal Board
relating to the City of Kitchener's expansion of the Doors Valley Golf Course on to lands in the
City of Cambridge.

REPORT:
These conditions require either the granting of easements or the conveyance of land as listed in
the recommendation section of this report. Council has previously authorized the Mayor and
Clerk in Report-08-038 to execute the necessary documentation to give effect to these
transfers/grants. Upon the declaration of these lands as being surplus for the purposes
intended staff will be in a position to complete these transactions.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
There is no cost associated with the development of the necessary documentation referenced in
the recommendation. The financial implications pertaining to the granting of these easements
and the conveyance of the land are within the scope of the approved Business Plan for this
project which was previously presented to Council and approved.
CONCLUSION:
Support of the recommendation will allow staff to satisfy the conditions and advance the project.
