That the Uniform Traffic By-law be amended accordingly. BACKGROUND: The City of Kitchener has received a request from a resident of Everglade Crescent regarding parking on Everglade Crescent. According to the constituent, vehicles regularly park along the inner curve portion of the roadway, thereby narrowing the effective roadway width, which in turn, creates a traffic and pedestrian safety concern. At the present time, on-street parking is permitted on both sides of Everglade Crescent from Foxglove Crescent to Foxglove Crescent for a maximum period of three (3) consecutive hours, as outlined in the City of Kitchener Uniform Traffic By-law No. 2007-138. REPORT: The section of Everglade Crescent under review is a local roadway that runs from Foxglove Crescent to Foxglove Crescent. Accordingly, on July 16, 2008, a letter was delivered to the residences directly abutting this section of Everglade Crescent regarding a proposal to prohibit parking at anytime on the inner curve near 41 Everglade Crescent). The results are as follows: In favour of prohibiting parking on the south /west side of Everglade Crescent 6 (100%) In favour of leaving the current regulation as is 0 (0%) TOTAL 6 (out of 14 - 43% responded) Based on the results of the survey, Transportation Planning is recommending that parking be prohibited at anytime on the inner curve of Everglade Crescent (near 41 Everglade Crescent) FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The approximate cost for signage, including installation, for the roadway is $750 and will be taken from the existing sign maintenance budget.
