Victoria Park has seen ongoing upgrading and improvements over the last 25 years. This
includes significant storm sewers, playgrounds, splash pads, pedestrian lighting and Christmas
lighting, etc. Many of the underground services for these improvements need to be clearly
identified in a comprehensive way. Several of the underground and above grade utilities have
been abandoned or are redundant as well. All these utilities must be identified accurately and in
an organized fashion. This survey and inventory work is significant because many groups and
individuals are doing excavations without accurate utility information; and as a result, a severe
safety issue may surface and the risk of human lives are at stake. This work is long overdue, and
our department has listed this as a High Priority on our project list, which needs to be completed
without delay.
