HomeMy WebLinkAboutExpression of Interest - E06-053 - Construction Management Firm - New Twin Pad Arena~: k } Date: June 13 , 2006 To: Mayor Carl Zehr and Members of Council Subject: E06-053 -Construction Management Firm -New Twin Pad Arena RECOMMENDATION That Expression of Interest E06-053, Construction Management Firm -New Twin Pad Arena, be awarded to Ball Construction Inc., Kitchener at their fee of $223,960., plus G.S.T., and further that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute an agreement satisfactory to the City Solicitor. REPORT In accordance with Chapter 170 of the Municipal Code pertaining to the Selection of Professional Services/Consultants, a Consultant's Review Committee was established consisting of M. Petricevic, Project Manager, K. Kugler, Manager -The Aud & Community Arenas, G. Collins, Supervisor - Community Arenas, H. Gross, Director Project Administration & Economic Investment, R. Morgan, Capital Investment Advisor, and L. Gordon, Director of Purchasing. Expressions of interest were advertised in The Record, on the City of Kitchener Home Page and on the internet thorough the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering Information System relative to this project. Documents were picked up by nineteen (19) interested parties. By the closing date of Monday May 15~', 2006, seven (7) responses had been received. PBK Architects Inc., the City's Consultants for this project, rated the submissions and the Review Committee elected to interview the four (4) highest rated Project Management firms. The Review Committee met on Tuesday June 6~', 2006 to interview the shortlisted candidates. The Committee elected to award the project to Ball Construction Inc., Kitchener. Contribution from Development Charges $14,220,000. TOTAL $15, 800,000. EXPENSES Construction Cost $11,662,934. Construction Contingency $ 583,147. Snow Dump Replacement $ 603,200. Consulting Fees (Architect) $ 695,000. Consultant Fees (Project Management) E06-053 $ 223,960 Additional Consulting Fees $ 14,075. Furnishings & Equipment $ 1,256,104.
