Subject: T06 -057 — Lighting Poles and Luminaires
RECOMMENDATION
That tender T06 -057, Lighting Poles and Luminaires, be awarded to Nedco Electric, Kitchener,
at their tendered price of $149,362.07, including P.S.T. and G.S.T.
BACKGROUND
This tender is to provide lighting for the Joseph Street, Francis Street and Gaukel Street
reconstruction projects.
REPORT
Tenders were requested from nine (9) potential bidders, advertised publicly in The Record, on
the City of Kitchener website and the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering Information
System. By the closing date of Thursday June 8 t , 2006, six (6) tenders had been received.
The low bid from Heritage Castings & Ironworks, Mississauga did not meet specifications for an
octagonal component and was rejected. The second low bid from Gerrie Electric, Kitchener was
not compliant as they did not include specifications on the products being tendered and was
rejected. The alternate bid from Guillevin International, Kitchener also failed to include
specifications on their alternate bid products and was rejected.
The following tenders were received:
J. McBride, Director of Transportation Planning, has reviewed the tenders and concurs with the
above recommendation.
