BACKGROUND Asphalt and concrete materials removed from City projects are stockpiled at the Battler Yards and when sufficient quantities are available, we contract for the crushing of the materials and the product is inventoried to be used on various city projects as required. The benefits of this process are materials can be reused rather than paying to have them disposed of, we have less costly materials available for city projects, and the reuse of the materials is environmentally responsible. REPORT Tenders were requested from four (4) potential bidders, advertised publicly in The Record, on the City of Kitchener website and the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering Information System. By the closing date of Thursday September 21~r, 2006, three (3) tenders had been received. The tendered price of the low bidder, 3171933 Ontario Inc., has been adjusted to reflect the G.S.T. at 6% and not as 7% as shown in their tender submission. The price for crushing has gone up approximately 13% since the last tender in 2002. The following tenders were received: Adjusted Tender Price 1371933 Ontario Inc. Waterdown , ON $209,720. $207,760. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS The materials will be charged to Inventory Index 520506 and charged out as used in 2007. Larry Gordon Director of Purchasing
